100/160 Mbps I-Frame Only Firmware

We will be posting a major firmware update which adds / corrects the following:

1) Added 100/160 Mbps I-Frame only recording/playback. Note that this feature requires high-speed (233X or 300X) CF cards. We have successfully tested the new SanDisk 32GB 30Mbytes/sec and the Transcend 16GB 300X cards. The I-Frame mode works fine in FCP and Avid Media Composer, but does not play in Vegas. The status on Edius is unknown (but it will probably work). The Sony Clip Viewer and VLC players work fine with the I-Frames.

2) Added selectable file size. Currently the file size is fixed at about 3.6GB. This new code allows smaller files size which will be very useful in the future when we allow users to select individual files for playback.

3) Added display of the file name during record and playback.

4) Corrected HD-SDI lock issues and image shift problems during record. John, our hardware engineer, added special code to constantly check the HD-SDI source for changes and corrected a line numbering problem which caused the video frame shift.

5) Significantly reduced the time when switching between Record and Stop modes.

6) Saved the time-code trigger through power cycles.

We should have a release later this month which greatly enhances the playback functionality.

Dear Friends,

Previously, we took about 10 seconds to perform certain tasks each time a recording was stopped.

We were able to improve this function.

With our new release, this time has been reduced to 0.5 second (1/2 second).

Also, we were requiring the user to hold the Stop button down for three seconds before we stopped recording. This time was to ensure that the Stop button was not pressed accidentally.

We have reduced the hold time down to 1 second.

Our new release is scheduled to be posted late this afternoon.
