Nano Flash mxf format to Cineform - anyone done it?
 

I'm sure it's possible but I'm curious if anyone's done it yet.

I shoot JVC HD250 and edit on PPro (Windows-based) with ProspectHD. It's an outstanding intermediate for HDV, but I'd like to aquire in a higher bitrate and better color space for visual effects work. Since PPro doesn't support mxf natively, I'm curious if this might be a good workaround. Just curious if anyone's used this workflow. Thanks.

I'm still playing with Nanoflash, finding MUCH more useable than the Flash XDR, due to its size. I wanted to report on the best workflow I've been able to find, thus far.

I'm recording from a JVC HD110, which produces a 60fps progressine output, with no other options from the component output. As I've described, previously, I'm feeding thru a BMD analog to HDDVI converter box. The acquired MXF files are decomposed with Amberfin's MXF desktop, which outputs a m2t video file. The audio wav file can be decomposed with the free Mainconcept Reference codec demo.

The best discovery I've made is that the m2t file can be read by Virtual Dub and converted to any one of a number of different outputs, my favorite being Cineform's DI. In order for Virtual Dub to read the m2t, one will need the mpeg plugin for Vdub. The beauty of using Vdub is the ability to change the frame rate and apply a Deshaker plugin during the transcoding process.

Once I have the video file in the DI, I can import into any NLE and add my audio wav files back into the mix. This works for I-frame and long GOP recording formats and maintains the 422 quality, as well as getting the baseline data into 10-bit format as soon as possible after acquisition. The quality is astonishing.
