NanoFlash and DIY Battery Cradle Mount XL H1s
 

I mounted the nanoFlash by simply drillling a 1/4 inch hole in the Canon-supplied accessory plate and used a radio knob with a 1/4 20 bolt to catch the threaded hole in the back of the nanoFlash.

Over the weekend I cobbled together a battery cradle for a Canon battery and made a simple modification (a second ¼ inch hole) in the Canon-supplied accessory holder to hold the DIY battery cradle. To make the cradle I bought an inexpensive Canon travelling battery charger on-line. I then disassembled the charger and discarded all but the cradle. This had a removable back (four screws). I drilled a hole in the front of the cradle the same size as the Hirose power-supply cable with stripped ends from Convergent Design. I inserted the cable, then soldered the power supply cables to the battery connectors inside the cradle and strengthened the whole thing with hot glue. To mount the cradle, I hot glued a ¼ 20 nut inside the cradle and drilled a hole for the bolt on an old tripod knob to go through to the interior nut et voilá! I thought about a shorter cable, but decided to leave it long in case I wanted to hang it from somewhere else. There are a few extraneous holes in the bottom of the cradle that were originally to capture lugs to hold this piece of the charger to the rest of the battery charger. I will close them up. But this shows what I did.
