Do files span 2 CF cards?

Hi Dan,

Here's a newb question: when recording, do files ever write across the two CF cards? If so, what happens when you transfer to your computer— do you need a CF reader with two CF card slots?

Pardon my ignorance! I am selling off some old gear, getting closer to buying a Nanoflash and extending the life of my 1st gen Canon XLH1.

Thanks,

Jeff

Dear Jeff,

One recording can span two CompactFlash cards.

Once we add hot swapping, one recording will be able to span an unlimited number of cards.

We break long recordings up into smaller files. Some will be one the first card, and then the following ones will be on the next card.

During Playback, or during editing of the files, this process is seamless, no audio or video is lost.

Please note the Canon XL H1 with a nanoFlash is capable of outstanding images.

In my opinion, Canon did a wonderful job with this camera. I know that the Sony EX1 and EX3 get all the attention these days, but the Canon XL H1, even the original models can make stunning images.

Mike Leisegang, a professional stills photographer, with A-List clients said that this combination creates images that are just stunning. Mike creates photos for major automobile manufacturers and other major clients. This is quite a compliment.

Thanks, Dan , appreciate your speedy reply. But, did you mean to say

"Once we ADD hot swapping...?"

Again, thanks!

Jeff

Dear Jeff,

Yes, I corrected my original post. I meant "add".
