How to identify NanoFlash bitrates in MXFs?
 

Hi all,

I've got a bunch of NanoFlash MXFs shot at different bitrates by a colleague, but he hasn't written down which is which!!

Since they all look like 50Mbit XDCAM HD to an NLE, is there an easy way of identifying the bitrate used in a specific MXF file?

Trying to wrap my head around the math to my suggestion, but for starters:

The actual size of the file (shown in the Properties) divided by the time length... but then you would need to know the frame rate used?

How about Sony Clip Viewer - would it correctly report?

XDCAM Clip Browser reports 50. Edius correctly reports at 100. I think it is the only NLE that reports it correctly.

Quicktime Player, at least the MacOS version, will tell you. Open the clip in Quicktime Player and "Get Info" on the clip (clover I). While the Format field will show you the info in the header (e.g. 50Mb XDCAM HD422), the Data Rate field will tell you the true bitrate.
