IMX 50 and SD-DVD Quality

Hi,

Have been thinking about a Nanoflash for sometime and as an EX1 owner I know it would be a superb edition to the camera.

My main question concerns the SD capability of the Nanoflash. Currently all of our output to clients is SD DVD based. I can't seem to find any information about people using the HD/SD-SDI output to record IMX 50.

I wanted to know how this works and are the resulting DVD's better than downconverting
HD-SD in Compressor which is our current method. The results are good but love to know if using IMX 50 would be even better. If I knew that I could produce superb SD DVD quality it may be that I'm going to spend some serious money!!

Any help??

I recorded an SD project last year on the nano off my EX3 in 4x3 (sad I know, but this year it will be HD). It was for an awards evening, with about 8 short category videos and a 5 minute Year in Review video, each projected onto a very large screen in an auditorium that holds around 500 people.

I edited the project on my Media 100, encoded mpeg2/dolby digital via Bitvice and created the DVD (for screening) using DVDSP.

Great results.

Hi David,

4:3, I'd forgotten that!! ha ha!

SD just seems an area that doesn't get mentioned with regards to the Nanoflash. Certainly in my part of the world Blu-Ray has not infiltrated the market to any great extent so SD delivery to corporate clients is still the mainstay for me.

Be great if there are any others who have any experience of using it for SD purposes.
