Love my nF but...no analogue audio merge yet

I love the nF's images but I'm disappointed that merging the analogue audio inputs with the SDI stream is delayed. It's now 3 months since it was projected for last December, and unfortunately it's hurting me on a long shoot. One should never count on developer's projections but 4 channels of audio was one of the reasons I decided to go with the nanoFlash.

Did I mention how much I loved the images? I do.

Dear David,

We are sorry for the delay.

We did not want to hold up the Second Public Beta by including this feature.

Our chief engineer has it coded, we just need to fully test it.

I was looking forward to this feature as well. While a list of interesting secondary features may not be important to compete productions teams, they really make the case for buying a Nanoflash for smaller operations. Still, the value would be with better microphone connectors (XLR) and an HD-SDI audio mixer.

Dear Gints,

We designed the nanoFlash to be as small as possible.

XLR audio connectors take up lots of room, on the connector panel, behind the panel, and on the circuit board.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by an HD-SDI audio mixer?

Gints Klimanis March 29th, 2010 05:18 PM

Dan, yeah, I meant that rather than beef up the Nanoflash, it would be better to have an HD-SDI audio "mixer" or, more specifically, a device that would take XLR inputs, provide some amplification with user-accessible gain control, convert each input channel to digital and inject them into the upper audio channels in the HD-SDI stream. I think you mentioned the HD-SDI audio "mixer" in another thread.
