Dear Robin,

I would check the Remove pulldown checkbox.

Note: This is easier than it seems.

You want to record 23.98 (sometimes called 24p, and sometimes called 23.976 which is more precise, but the same thing).

If the nanoFlash is setup up properly, it will say 23.98 (or similar) near the bottom of the screen. If it says something else, either the camera or nanoFlash is not setup correctly.

I recommend to you, and to everyone else, that they run a test, with their camera, and their nanoFlash, and take the footage into Post, to see that you have everything correct.

Robyn, use 3:2 pulldown in the following situation:

You set your camera to 24p (or 23.98, 23.976) but the signal coming out of the SDI port is 59.94.

3:2 pulldown will restore the 59.94 to a proper 24p and record it to the CF cards.

I can not think of another situation where you would need 3:2 pulldown.

Robin:

Set your HDX-900 and NanoFlash up and try this.

When the HDX-900 is set up for 1080:
59.94 / 24p

With the:
Record PSF Prog Unchecked.

Look at the bottom line of the NanoFlash screen and you will see:
1080i59 (with the Record PSF Prog Checked you will see 1080sf29)

Now:
Check the Remove 3:2 Pulldown and watch this line change to:
1080pd23

Now:
Set the HDX-900 for:
59.94 / 30p

With the:
Record PSF Prog Unchecked.
Remove 3:2 Pulldown Unchecked.
You will see 1080i59 at the bottom line of the screen.

Now:
Uncheck the Record PSF Prog.
You will see 1080i59 at the bottom line of the screen

Now:
Check the Record PSF Prog.
You will see 1080sf29 on the bottom line.

Now check the Remove 3:2 Pulldown and what you have on the bottom line. If you see bottom line reading "No SRV" then you know you need to make a change.

Once you go through this a few times it will all make sense. Decide what format you want to shoot then set your HDX-900 up and then your NanoFlash. Make sure you have your chosen format in your camera and on the bottom line on the Nano Screen.

Beware.... If you try this with color bars as a video source you will not see a 1080pd23 signal Reading on the NanoFlash. So don't test this with Color Bars.

Now I think I'm confused. Let me know if this helps.

Loaded in the new software.. did all the settings..shot a test and play back.. all well 23.98 it is!!!

Thanks for the details.. that 29 to 24 when remove pull down is applied is a tricky one.. that would have confused me for sure..

Thanks again for your support.. everyone...

Know to work out Crank???? dont get it so far..
