And the doesn't work in 720p thing? only 1080?

Have read the manual .. but makes no sense to me..?

Thanks

Dear Robin,

Over and Under-cranking is a way to achieve slow and fast motion.

In normal motion, say with 24p, one has 24 frames for each second.

If one has less than 24 frames recorded for each second, then the motion, when played back will appear as fast (or quick) motion.

If one has more than 24 frames recorded for each second, then it will appear as slow motion when played back at the normal 24 frames per second.

Our Over and Under-Cranking works with both 720p and 1080p.

If using 720p, setup you camera to output 720p60, if using 1080p setup for 1080p30.

Then set the base rate to 24 frames per second, then choose a crank rate of 1 to 60 for 720p and 1 to 30 for 1080.

Dan -

Just to make sure I have this straight too - using 1080p it sounds as though you can probably get some good fast motion but slow motion would be hardly noticeable (since the limit is 30) - I assume most people are setting their cameras for 720/60p. With the EX1 then you do not set the camera to over/under crank - just set it at 720/60p and set the Nano for the over/under crank?

Dear Barry,

Yes, you have it right.

With 1080 the slo-mo ratio is limited to 1.25, with 720 the ratio is 2.5.

But, sometimes a slight slow-mo is just what is needed.

I somehow remember about not mixing resolutions/framerates on the Nanoflash CF cards - is that correct or can I have 1080/30p and 720/60p on the same CF card?

Dan Keaton April 7th, 2010 09:47 AM

Dear Barry,

You can record both 1080 and 720p on the same card.

However, since the nanoFlash plays back, starting with the selected click, then automatically advances to the next clip, there will be a problem (a glitch) in playback when the nanoFlash has to switch from one format to another.

Thus you can record multiple formats on one card; just select and play back the desired clips and you should be ok.

Also, pressing the Play button, to review the last recorded clip works just fine.

Dear Robin,

In our Crank menu, the first number is the base rate, the second number is the crank rate.

Over crank working fine..HDX900 720p/50p... base frame 25p.. shame not able to play back from Nano just as a confidence check though.. but plays fine on the Macbook with Calibrated software for quicktime..

Thanks
