which cameras?
 

Which cameras output 1080 60p over HDSDI or HDMI? I'm looking specifically for CCD based cameras, the smaller the better since I'll also be using a 35mm adapter and would like to keep the rig as small as possible.

The idea is to capture 1080 60p for overcranked slowmo using a nano flash and the type of shooting we'll be doing lends itself to CCD's over CMOS. Is there something out there that fits what I'm looking for?

1080p60 requires either Dual-Link HD-SDI or 3G HD-SDI.

We support single-link HD-SDI which is far more common.

The Sony codec module that we use does not support 1080p60.

Thus, the nanoFlash does not support 1080p60 from either the HD-SDI or HDMI input.

Have you had any luck finding any professional quality, small CCD cameras that support 1080p60?

I was just about to post that I read your user manual and 1080p 60 wasn't possible so never mind. Oh well.

As to finding a smallish camera that outputs 1080p 60, that's why I posted here in the first place. It's hard to figure out what cameras are outputting over HDSDI or HDMI by reading the manufacturer specs.

Looks like it'll have to be 720p 60 for slowmo which can be handled in cam on the HMC150 or HPX170 if I'm not mistaken. I was kinda looking forward to having an excuse to try out the Nano Flash, but if I don't need it to get what I'm after then there's no use renting one for this project. One of these days I'll have a good excuse to bill a client to use one.

There is a thread on this topic from a few months ago. What was discovered was there are VERY expensive industrial cameras available that shoot at this frame rate but they are not suitable for a camera operator.

Of course there are film industry cameras that do this but you don't want to know how expensive they are.

Yeah, $100K+ is just a tiny bit out of my budget. Tested out 60i to 60p to 24p in post and it wasn't terrible so it looks like that's the direction I'll go.
