NanoFlash settings when used with AF101?

Hi there,

Can anyone recommend the right NanoFlash settings when using it with a Panasonic AF101 shooting 1080p25?

We did a test shoot recently and noticed some strange artefacts on the NF clips that were clearly related to interlacing in some way, but we didn't have time to debug before the camera had to go back.

You can see the artefacts in this image

We set the NF to 1080i and didn't tick the 'make PSF into Progressive' box, as this is how we run it with our EX3s which produce 1080psf50 out the HDSDI.
Is the AF101 different?
Does it not create PSF on the HDSDI output?

Any suggestions or advice welcome.

Regards

Dave

Re: NanoFlash settings when used with AF101?

Dear Dave,

If AF100 is setup for 1080p25, it is actually outputting 1080psf25, which looks like 1080i50 to monitors.

Thus, you should definitely set Video|Record PSF>Prog(ressive) so that the nanoFlash can convert the PSF to true progressive.

When you have the setting right you will see, in the lower left-hand corner of the LCD, 1080sf25.

This indicates that we are setup for 1080psf25 and are recording 1080p25.
