CD Concatenator Not Playing Ball

Hi all,

Wondering if I can get a little help using the concatenator program on my Mac. I've been trying to get the ConDesign program to work with little success.

Currently getting the error message: "Can't get document 1 of application "QuickTime Player 7". Invalid Index"

I've got QT7 installed, followed directions, still not working. I'm trying to get a bunch of .MOV files strung together to hand to a client, thought this to be an easy way to do it... nope! I know I can do this by using Final Cut, but thought I would try and fix this problem instead of punt to next time I need it.

Hello Scott,

What Version of Quicktime Player 7.X.X are you using?

Is Quicktime Player 7 the default player for the MOV files?

Also is Quicktime Player X installed?

I will try to replicate this today in our Lab, Also feel free to contact us directly,

Best Regards

QuickTime v: 10.0 is installed. QuickTime 7 is installed, as well, v: 7.6.6 (just downloaded from Apple yesterday). Both live in the applications folder.

I cannot figure out how to change either of them RE: default player for my system, so I don't know how that is affecting the program. From what I have read up on, QT X pretty much asserts control on the system, it is very difficult to go around.

Dear Scott,

Were the files that you want to concatenate created by a nanoFlash or from some other source?

Our Concatenator is designed to work with our files only.

I hope you will understand that there are just too many subtle variations for us to support every type of file.

Hello Scott,

If you right Click on a nanoFlash File, then click Get Info, then towards the bottom of the window that comes up you will see Opens with and a Selection, I would set it to Quicktime Player 7 as the Default (7.6.6 is fine) this one is usually found under Applications>Utilities>Quicktime

Then Select apply to all files like this, this should Remedy the error,

I ran out of time on Friday to test the Application on Lion,

But I tested it today, and If you set your files to open up with Quicktime Player 7.6.6, it works fine with Lion

Best Regards

Re: CD Concatenator Not Playing Ball

OK, that did the trick, setting the Mac to use QT7 for all files. It wasn't obvious to me where to change that setting, so thanks.

Concat worked great after this. Too bad that QT-X is so awful. You can't do many things with it that you could with QT7.
