NanoFlash and the new Sony F5

This F5 camcorder sounds promising. It should work fine with the Nano, especially with the 2 Hi-rose power taps for feeding it. (see this video at 6'59" : http://www.fstopacademy.com/blog/son...9459dbaab74987 )
Maybe someone should build an adapter to clips the Nano at the back of the camcorder?

Do remember that the Nano's hirose pin configuration is different from the rest of the industry. A standard hirose cable will not work.

Re: NanoFlash and the new Sony F5

Dear Friends,

We need to determine if the power output of these new cameras can support the 5.8 watt (maximum) power that the nanoFlash requires.

On many cameras, the Hirose power outlets are for powering wireless receivers and can only output 200 milliwatts.

And many cameras can be damaged if more than the limited amount of power is consumed.

This can be a very expensive mistake.

Some camera lines, have equally professional cameras, some that support up to 200 milliwatts and others can output 1.5 amps. We need the 1.5 amp variety.

We typically recommend against using the Hirose Power Output of cameras, as the cable can be easily misused on another camera and cause $5,000 worth of damage.

Dear Jack,

We follow the Toshiba POV Camera wiring standard since they use the exact same connector.

Pin 1 + Pin 2 = Positive (6 to 19.5 Volts DC)

Pin 3 + Pin 4 = Ground

If the preliminary reports are correct the power taps on the camera are good up to 1.8a each (~20w).
