HDMI Connector - best cable?

Greetings,

I normally run inputs to the 7Q via SDI, but my Paralinx wireless RX is SDI only and I'm having a little difficulty finding an HDMI cable that gives me a good, solid connection on the 7Q side. I've found one that works if it's pulled out juuuuuuust a little bit, but when fully seated, the image goes away. Needs to be short - 12" or less - and be standard HDMI to mini-HDMI.

I have a coiled Atomos one coming, but it's backordered - but it may be the ticket.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Brian

Dear Brian,

nanoFlash.net has Type A (Regular Large HDMI Connector to Type C (Mini HDMI connector) cables.

These cables fit nicely in the Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q and nanoFlash.

They also have Type C to Type C cables, which are Mini to Mini.

nanoFlash.net HDMI

Of course, there are other sources for HDMI cables, I just know that these work.

I hope this helps.

Respectfully,

Hi Dan -
Thanks for that. Hadn't thought of their site. They all look too long or have the wrong plug combo, but a good suggestion nonetheless!

Re: HDMI Connector - best cable?

Hi All,

I'm beginning to think I have a bum HDMI connector on my 7Q.
I can't keep a solid signal to mine from the parallinx via HDMI. I've tried numerous cables including the new Atomos coiled versions that are supposed to be engineered to be snug and fit tighter. Move it just a tick and the signal goes away.

I'm assuming you guys who are recording via HDMI are getting solid connections there?

(yes..i know...i can and have added a blackmagic battery-powered hdmi -> SDI adapter and all is well, but i'm trying to make this a handheld rig for wireless/producer viewing. the less gear strapped to it, the better.)

Before I look to send it to CD, I just want to make sure others find it a viable, solid connection (although it'll never be as firm as a bnc...I just want it to be useable with the parallinx)

Dear Brian,

I have not heard of other reported problems with our HDMI input.

But, of course, far more people use HD-SDI.

We will be happy to check out your Odyssey7Q.

Re: HDMI Connector - best cable?

Thanks Dan - I appreciate that and always knew it was an option to have you guys check it out. I just wanted to make sure that I was the only one with a touchy connector. Obviously, the HDMI isn't nearly as physically solid as the BNC's, but I do think mine is a bit "off" - this is the first time I've used that input.

When I see a slow period, I'll contact the mother ship to arrange a tune up!

Thanks,
Brian
