Other compressed bitrates?
Having the highest bitrates available recording is great. Will there be more modest bitrates coming for those times when the ultimate in quality is not needed?

Then you just use the internal recording of your cam. Use the 7q for backup

Possible but not so useful for me.
Its a waste of space to record a talking head interview at 10 bit 220mB/s when the camera outputs 8bit in HD. Using the 7q as backup is still a waste of drive space at these higher bitrates and provides me no other benefit than safety. I would prefer to record to the 7q as primary and use the AVCHD in camera as safety. When I'm on the road editing the laptop is a much happier with ProRes or DNxHD versus AVCHD and transcoding. It is beneficial for me to have something in the 100-150mB/s range to minimize storage space requirements while retaining reasonable image quality and edit friendly codecs. You may not find value in this scenario but it is helpful for me. It is also why my go-to recorder is still the PIX240. I've not recorded a single frame of video with the 7q even after owning it for almost a year.

For 8 bit 4:2:2 recording my old NanoFlash is still a go-to choice for convenience, flexibility, and high quality, high efficiency codecs. I may have newer, 'fancier' recorders, but somehow the old Nanoflash is still the best choice for certain jobs/clients!

Dear Chris,
We will be adding other bit-rate flavors of Apple ProRes 422. But, our priority has been adding 4K Apple ProRes 422, as this helps so many people, expanding ability of many to record 4K in reasonable file sizes. And we are working on an RGB 4:4:4 compressed codec. Respectfully,

Prores LT seems like a great balance and more than enough for a lot of projects. It will definitely ve a sweetspot for 4k which is otherwise rather large for HQ or even 422. I've heard the 7q will get LT, but I'd definitely make it a high priority with 4k prores right around the corner.
