I got my Final Cut Studio, Adobe Premiere and Ultra - Now what do I do?
 

This thread is basically to put together links and tips of how to get the best tutorials and training in Final Cut Studio, Adobe CS3 and Ultra software.

I am currently using www.vtc.com for most of my training but they do not have it all. I am considering using www.lynda.com for my Live Type training.

www.digitaljuice.com has great tutorials for video producers at http://www.digitaljuice.com/djtv/default.asp. I have been learning a lot with the DJ TV videos they have.

If you have had a good experience with a training product such as a book, dvd or website tutorials this is the place for you to comment and share the information. It does not matter if it is free, paid or subscription. You post the recommendation. We check it out and decide what to do.

lynda.com has great tutorials. I haven't checked out what they have on Final Cut, but some of the other stuff, and most of it has been really helpful for me.

But maybe the best way to get started is to just come up with an idea for a simpke project and start working on it, just for fun and to experiment with the software. Learning on the job, so to speak. And if you have questions along the way, well, there's always this forum!

I am going to sign with lynda.com to learn the live type tutorial and check out the others at the same time.

I have been watching DJ TV at www.digitaljuice.com. They have been very helpful with learning the basics.

I also found recently tutorials a www.videomaker.com

I wish other people would share the websites they found so I could add to the favorites and check whenever possible.

www.DVcreators.net - Guy Cochran runs this site as well as www.DVestore.com, and I've found a lot of really great information and tutorials and things here. His video podcast series has been very useful to me, and he also has a great comparison of different kinds of shotgun microphones.

Peachpit Press Books - This company publishes a lot of great books for digital video production, so I've heard. I own the first one on Final Cut Pro 6, just to brush up before I try and go for an official Apple certification, but I think I know all of that information and so I personally find it very slow. If you're unfamiliar with what it is teaching though, it seems like it would be an amazing resource, since it really walks you through it step by step! I've heard these books recommended time and time again from a bunch of different podcasts that I've watched/listened to. These books are usually available at your local Barnes and Noble's or Borders if you would like to take a look at them, and I'm sure that they can be found at Amazon too.

Macbreak Studio - Speaking of podcasts, one of my favorite video podcasts has branched off recently into doing roughly 7-10 minute shows that feature different programs in the Final Cut Studio suite. This, as well as some other great video, media, and mac related shows can be found at www.pixelcorps.tv

I have been using a lot of videos for learning. It is kind of addictive and easier to understand for me. I have not gone to the books for a while.

As I am getting more used with Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects I am start to look for effects tutorials.

I am also trying to find out a good article about keying. I realize I have quite a few options for keying both in Final Cut and Adobe After Effects. What I need to get more used to now is what to tune up when the image has imperfections.
