After Effects Phantom Keyframes

Im having a problem in After Effects with seemingly phantom keyframes changing the path of a moving box for example.

What happens is that i animate the box to move left then right, then 10 seconds later i want it to move down. But for some reason its moving down and to the right.

I am deleting the keyframe and re-entering it, same result.

Its kind of hard to describe does anyone know what i mean?

Cheers,

you're probably having an issue with bezier curves in your animation. in-between keyframes spatial interpolation will default to "auto bezier", resulting in curved motion paths. to get what you're looking for, right click the middle position keyframe in your animation, click "keyframe interpolation" in the pop up menu, and change the "spatial interpolation" pulldown from "auto bezier" to "linear".

Thanks for that Henry. Yeah i kinda worked it out by grabbing the bezier and making the handles down to zero.

It was a huge stress at the time!
