Import Sony HDV footage into After Effects

Has anyone worked with Sony Z1U footage straight in After Effects. I have AE 7.0 and the specs say it can work with HDV footage natively but everytime I try to import a .m2t clip it crashes.

How are you capturing your Z1U footage? I use Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and Cineform's Aspect HD and it works great.

The other option would be to take whatever program you are using the capture, and somehow export a TGA or PNG sequence and then import that into After Effects.

Hope this helps,

Jim

I am capturing my footage using DV Rack. I am working on a project that is about 10 minutes with files captured using DV Rack. The files are M2T. I import them into Avid Express Pro, edit and color correct. I was hoping to render once to one M2T file out of Avid. Import into After Effects, crop to make a 4:3 picture that isn't squeezed and render straight to MP2 for DVD authoring.

My dilema is, the project is too long to export into a uncompressed Codec. What I am trying to do is do a little pan and scan. With Avid, I can import a M2T directly into a SD project, however the image is 16:9. I don't want a 16:9 image, I want a center cut 4:3.

I understand that Cineform makes a intermediary codec to use in After Effects. I just don't want to use Premiere as I edit on Avid.
