I do A lot of After Effects work. I want the most amout of Ram that After effects can utilize. I understand premiere can only use up to 3GB. Same for AFX?

There's no hard and fast answer to this.

For example, under Windows XP with 4GB of RAM installed (the maximum that XP will be stable with), XP will only make 2GB available to other 32 bit programs. This 2GB will be shared between any 32 bit programs running at the time. Therefore, under XP, Premiere will be limited to 2GB, as well.

I can't give you details on how other operating systems handle RAM access, but I'm sure most would be less restrictive than XP.

Follow this thread for information on how to allow After Effects to use more than 2 Gb of memory!
