Deinterlacing (film-look-style) with big projects?
 

I like the look of the 'motion picture clarity' technique from this DVinfo article:

But I'm trying to figure out how to apply this efficiently in a big (feature length) project.

Here's the problem:
We log everything in with Scenalyzer so every take is a different clip. When the editor finished his stuff in Vegas, that stuff is exported to After Effects. Now, in After Effects, it seems ridiculous to take every piece of footage and apply that technique on it (that'd be very time-consuming). But it also seems impossible to just leave the footage interlaced and apply it on the comp because the technique only works on footage in AE and not on comps.

So I guess I can only apply the motion clarity thing on a rendered interlaced video of the scene? If so, what about cuts (where the interlacing isn't correct)? And also, if I have to work with interlaced footage in post, effects will often mess with the interlacing.

edit: just noticed the 'field rendering' options in AE, but I don't have much experience with this stuff, will it create perfectly interlaced footage again? Or will it mess some things up?

Just thought of something though, is there a perfect way to interlace footage again after it's been deinterlaced? If so, I can just interlace it again at the end and then apply the motion picture clarity look.
