1440X1080 30p and 760 60p recordings.
Does anybody know how high the bit rate goes up to?

I'm glad they finally made the jump to 1080p. I may pick up one when it comes out. I have a feeling though, that each new resolution model from Aiptek uses the same sensor, just enabled for higher resolutions.

Wait, does this mean it will shoot in the 4:3 standard of 1080p, or that it will be anamorphically compressed, ala HDV?

1440x1080 is the exact same resolution as HDV but people would be better off shooting in its 1280x720 60p mode.

I bought the older cheaper model which only does 1280x720 30p to bring with me to the Azores and something that people need to remember when buying camcorders like these is how much they paid for it every time their shots look bad.

Now maybe the new ones will fix some of the problems of the older ones but its too early to tell.

Yes I agree with Paulo. The 720p60 mode is what people should be getting excited about. The 1080p30 mode offers nothing over the older models 720p30 mode except more strain on your PC. These cams don't have the quality of any component to even come close the potential resolution that 720p allows. Shooting 1080p will not suddenly make the crappy lens better.
The high compression/ cheap encoder of these cams makes everything shot at 30p blur and fall apart fast for everything but locked down shots (I own an A-HD 720p30) but the new 720p60 mode would go a long way towards making these non image stabilized little cams actually useful in a hand held high movement environment.
Ignore the 1080p30 mode. Its pure marketing (and sure to fool many) but the 720p60 mode may be the reason to pick up one of these.

The Xacti HD1000 does 720P60 and it's great!!!!
