High-end HD camera market

Do you share my opinion that many of the new innovations in video technology have come from product developments in the high-end of the market?

If so, do you also believe that an investment in high-end, high-quality video products are essential to keeping the industry strong?

Innovations tend to always come from the high end in just about everything. Velcro came from the space program and that's about as high end as you can get.

As far as investing in the high end to keep the industry strong, it's not really necessary. The industry will constantly morph with gear that sells. Sony, for example, makes gear from low to high end and will continue to make gear as long as they can sell it. Sony and others will continue to innovate so they have something to sell you. If they don't someone else will make innovative products. Think RED.

The video equipment industry does not need a bail out from it's customers.
