OpenHD™

From the Adobe site: "Adobe, HP, Intel, Microsoft, and Dell have joined together to deliver a line of open, scalable, certified desktop HDV and HD solutions to deliver optimal performance at a price point that is unbeatable today."

Wow, never thought I'd see HP and Dell in the same association, except for the association of making money. :-)

Can't tell if this is just marketing, repackaging, or if there is really something to it. I guess time will tell.

Now if ALL NLE manufacturers and ALL PC manfacturers signed up to this OpenHD compatibility agreement, then that would be something.

Always follow the money. :-)

Here's the OpenHD web site: www.openhd.org

In what way is that not about making money?

Sorry for the haterade folks but

HP, Microsoft(????) Dell, Intel. Sony, Adobe

Out of all the progenitors of OpenHD only Sony and Adobe have any real experience with video directly. This makes sense if you're HP, Dell and Intel because you want to sell hardware.

Nah...I think that HDV is fine today and there's nothing here that makes me think these guys are offering anything new.

Hmm. Sounds to me like a "let's try to keep Apple from getting all the HDV customers" kind of thing. In a few months we will probably remember this like we remember MMX.
