it connects to a 3gb/SATAII interface.. that is a _very_ different thing than actually having 3gb throughput :).

Indeed, Hitachi already has an "SATA 3GB" drive on the market, and Tom's Hardware found it to be good, not great
http://www.tomshardware.com/storage/20050523/index.html part of which is no doubt due to limitations that won't exist in future PCs, where the higher capability of the newer 3GB SATA-IO drive (as SATA II is properly called) will shine.
