Pioneer BDR-205 Blu-ray is shipping!

BDR-205 in stock! Pioneer introduces the world's first 12x BD-R/BD-R DL optical drive. The BDR-205 Internal Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD Writer is the next generation Blu-ray Disc Writer from Pioneer. This revolutionary product will write up to 12x on BD-R (25Gbytes) and BD-R DL (50Gbytes) media. It allows users to author high-definition Blu-ray Disc content while also delivering the ability for high-capacity data storage. One BD-R DL disc will hold the same amount of data as 10 DVDs (single layer).

The BDR-205 can read BD-ROM and BD-ROM DL, read/write single and dual layer BD-R & BD-RE discs, read DVD-ROM, and read/write most DVD and CD recordable media formats.

* 12x maximum writing speed on BD-R & BD-R DL media
* Write up to 50Gbytes on one BD-R DL disc (equal to 10 single layer DVDs)
* Also Reads and Writes DVD-R/+R, DVD-RW/+RW, DVD-R/+R (DL), and CD-R/RW media

Pioneer's UK web-site states:

"Notice: Pioneer Blu-ray, DVD/CD Writers and Drives for PCs

Pioneer Europe has withdrawn from the PC Components distribution business from end of July 2009 for strategic reasons and is no longer able to respond to individual question about products or their function.

All post sales enquiries about these PC Components products must be directed to the dealer / distributor from which the component(s) were purchased."
