Sub $1000 Timelapse Dolly

Just got this messages from Dynamic Perception, LLC

Quote:

Greetings Aaron,

Thank you for inquiring about Dynamic Perception and our new Timelapse Dolly! We've been working hard to get this initial dolly stage and eventually an entire three axis kit that's easy to assemble and transport into your hands. Our goal is to hit the elusive sub-$2500 mark for a 15-20 pound payload, durable, robust, and low power consumption three axis motion control system.

We're kicking it all off with 'Timelapse Dolly Stage Zero' which will be in the $800 range with accurate speed adjustment (top speed around 25 minutes per 5 feet) and direction motor controller. This dolly will be 4’ or 6’ ready to run and have everything you need to start making great time-lapse dolly moves the second it arrives with cameras 5 to 25 pounds.

Our goal is to provide ever-expanding opportunities, and in light of that the controller that will come with the dolly kit will have the ability to connect to the upcoming open source OpenMoco-based Engine. The engine will support up to four axes of integral control, allowing mixing of DC motors, Steppers, and Servos. Once integrated with the Engine, you'll get full camera-sync capability, shoot-move-shoot, stop-motion, and long-term time-lapse capabilities.

We'll keep you posted on each stage of development. We hope to start shipping the 'Dolly Stage Zero' in July. Once we have secured solid delivery timelines from our suppliers, we will open up the pre-order page. We expect to have all timelines secured within three weeks.

We’ll ship worldwide! =)

All the best,

Jay Burlage

$800 sounds pretty stinkin sweet for the rig. Here's a video of the rig:

Totally kickass. My brother and I are about to start building one of those. He is a fabricator and we are going to get everything machined out and drawn up. I can't wait. Hopefully we can pull off the same quality shown here.
