Chris, the press release is the 70D, but the picture says 7D... That's slightly puzzling.

Also, no mention of Clean HDMI, but you do get All-I mode.

Also has the handy dandy wi-fi like in the 6D.

And yeah what's up with the picture of the 7D?

I am not surprised, but beyond disappointed that there is no headphone jack.

Every last one of Canon's Vixia consumer camcorders have headphone jacks, I just think this is a shame that Canon hasn't put headphone jacks as standard on their DSLRs. I don't think it is asking for to much considering a $200 Vixia camera has one, but you have to break the $3k mark on DSLRs to be able to monitor audio.

Of course there are press kit photos here on the side of the page.

I don't understand this desire for a headphone jack. I would never capture sound internally on these cams, it's crap no batter how good of a source you put into it.

Get a Tascam 60D, run a cable into the camera from it for reference only, done. Plug your headphones into that instead.

D'oh!

*slapping forehead*

When this press release email appeared in my in-box, it was right around 11pm local time and I was just about to head off to bed. My mind was already in sleep-mode, and the press info had just been published on the CUSA site without photos. From a Google search I grabbed what I *thought* was a 70D image but apparently I was in too much of a haze at that point.

Of course, as Chris Korrow has pointed out, the press images are now online at CUSA. So I've updated the DVi page to reflect the proper product images. Thanks for catching this -- pretty embarrassing, though!

I would have liked to see 1080 60p instead of having every still size since the inception of the digital camera.

The 70D will probably get a tepid response in the photography world, but in the filmmaking and video event world, I think there will be a good response.

The new autofocus feature looks like it performs very well. Add on a Tascam DR-D60 and you have a pretty capable video camera, with the ability to change lenses and decent low light performance. The ALL-I mode looks nice for fast editing.

I read elsewhere that it looks like the SD card interface is using some sort of Ultra High speed interface, so if Magic Lantern ever figures out how to pull the RAW data, we might see some amazing 1080p video with nice dynamic range out of this camera.

I have been mulling whether to buy a t5i, but the 70d seems to take the "oddball" features from several of their cameras (touch screen from t4i/t5i, wifi from 6d, etc) and combines them with their new pixel technology. I'm still a little disappointed they're still milking the APS-C sensor though.
