Sony FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS

This looks like a sweet FF lens. I wish it was just a touch wider but I guess I'll take it anyway.

Questions:

1.) 8 speed zoom servo. How is speed controlled? That zoom rocker seems to have a very tiny travel distance.

2.) I noticed on the reverse side, (the side with very few pictures of) there are 2 more switches. I believe one could be zoom speed?

3.) How smooth is the servo motion? (does it "ramp" it's motion or "lurch"...or something in between)

4.) Focus ring has a hard stop. (YES!) Is this like an EX1 lens where all 3 rigs are fully geared or are they "fly by wire"?

5.) Is this a true para-focal lens? (with a constant aperture it might be?)

6.) Any release date yet?

Big question: Anybody know if the A7s will support the zoom function of this lens over it's LANC port? (multiport)

Why don't these manufacturers just work on what we all want ... a 18-200mm CONSTANT F2.8 or F3.5 zoom lens with magnificent sharpness, contrast and colours. Stabilization, and silky smooth focus and zoom.

I would happily sell one of my kidneys for one.

They kinda did... Cooke Optics made an 18-100 T3. That monster weighed 15 pounds! ;) I could only imagine how much that would weigh if they'd gone another 100mm.

Best,
Greg

You'd probably have to sell a kidney to afford one. And to buy the ridding necessary to mount it.

Seriously doubt it. Likely to be a "smart" zoom with a look up table to adjust flange focus on the fly as zoomed.

Because you wouldn't pay the price for one, if physics allowed such a creature to be crafted the first place.
