The Z100 might be the exception, at 20x (still not in the 22x-25x zoom range), but most zooms on 4K camcorders are in the 10x-13x range (DVX 200 is 13x).
Even with the same codec as the F55, the Z100 image quality is still pretty poor and noisy, IMO. You need bright sunlight for the image to look decent, and even then it still has noise due more to the small sensor, the codec can't make up for that.
I definitely don't want to shoot at 4K then scale down to HD in post. I'd waste a lot of time and computer resources and storage.
My point is that there are too many compromises for 4K in the $4,000-$5,000 range today. Five years down the road, that will probably change, but for now, it's not what I want.

It should also be mentioned that scaled down 4K footage makes fantastic HD.

There is also the same advantage to be gained just as when we started shooting HD before anyone wanted HD delivery. If shooting 4K and delivering 1080, you have the ability to re-frame a shot in post or key frame a pan/zoom.
