Yep, link is busted...

But on a somewhat related note, you got to be more carful about your talent (or should we say, subject) and how he/she/it looks when shooting HD. A couple years ago, I set up an 82" Mitsubishi LCOS TV (the first true 1080p rear projection on the market) for a large home theatre install. The clients were thrilled and were immediately glued to the Discovery HD channel. About 10 minutes into viewing, there was an interview taking place and the man being interviewed had this giant, dried piece of snot just barely protruding from his left nostril. This booger was probably the size of a pencil eraser in real life, but having been shot on a Sony HDCAM at 1440x1080 and rebroadcast at 1280x1080 onto a 1080p display at 82" it seemed huge and highly detailed. Let's just say that everyone noticed it immediately and we were all fixated by it. ;-) The thing was nearly 4" on that 82" TV.

Can't belive that this was not caught during production/editing or even if it was that they let it slide. LOL....

Wow Jeff, I guess even the 'skin detail' function available in camera would not have helped in that scenario. Guess we'll have to have a 'booger detail' control on future HD camera releases. Maybe we should add that to the RED and Silicon Imaging camera feature requests. ;-)

No thread has ever made me laugh as hard as this one! =)

Joe Carney June 2nd, 2006 12:31 AM

I'm gonna laugh about this one for days. :)))))!!!!!.
Jeff, sometimes its good to just vent.

Jeff Kilgroe June 6th, 2006 11:31 AM

I'm glad people found it amusing. I still laugh over it... I don't shoot interviews (only have done one ever), but if I ever have to do another, I will definitely make sure I have some tissue handy and I'll see if the subject needs one before I start the shoot. Heh. :-)

Oh, and I'm sure the skin detail feature has it's uses too because I think that's what this thread is supposed to be about.

Hey, Jon, great to see you over here. Great minds think alike, I guess. :)

Hi Rob!

Yep. This is a great forum. To be honest I'm surprised that there aren't more NSS'ers over here...
