Thats great news! I'm even more closer to buying a mac than ever before. I wonder if they will offer a upgrade price for those switching from PC to Mac?

Essentially it will be the same as the pc version just for Mac so you would think they would offer a upgrafe version for those migrating.

Now if only I could shell out a few grand for a new Mac pro. :)

It's hard to say if they'll offer an upgrade or not, the new premiere was completely rebuilt from the ground up.

Oh no, more Mac users!!!!!!!!!! Pulling hair out!!!!!!

Just kidding, you'll like PPro 2.0 and the whole package. :)

I can hear it now: "Why don't you get a Mac? Premiere Pro runs better on it!" :)

My close friend Jeremiah Hall refused to go to Final Cut until Premiere quit being supported on the Mac 5 years ago. He loves FCP now, but I wonder if he'll go back to Premiere, which he'd been cutting on for 7 years at one point.

I have noticed that more amitures or small film crews edit on Adobe (no offence) and the bigger film production companies edit on FCP, Because of its intergration into everything. I no that the BBC and ITV (2 biggest film networks in the UK) are going to FCP

Thanks,
Nathaniel

I just visited the Adobe site. I'm really impressed! Back when I made the move to FCP from Avid (mainly due to overall system cost and intergration) I never even considered Premiere. Even though I worship Photoshop and Illustrator... But now PP2 seems to have native HD, multicam, and GPU rendering. That's pretty cool. I know a couple of people who are probably doing backflips right now, since they can keep the same interface they are locked into, but do so much more. Bravo!

I asked my friend who's been on FCP for 4-5 years now and he loves FCP too much to change. He was on Premiere for almost as long, btw (Mac version).

Me too, I'm too much in the FCP world to roll to a different software, and there's really no need to. I can edit easily and the software helps rather than hinders. But for people locked into PP, it's a cool upshot.

Heath McKnight January 9th, 2007 09:24 PM

Same for people wanting to go Mac but not wanting to use Bootcamp or Parallels with PP2 Windows.

I’m very well used to using Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. Having the new version of both on the same OS is a killer and yes, it will definitely allow more windows users to get a Mac.

Jacob Walker,
I’m in the same boat although I’m trying to get a MacBook Pro instead. I was already trying to figure out how am I going to be able to afford a nicely equipped MacBook Pro with Final Cut Pro and then Adobe has to make my life more difficult by announcing their newest version of Premiere Pro for the Mac. What next, Apple announcing Final Cut Extreme for several thousand?
