I would really love to have the AJ-HPX3000

"The AJ-HPX3000, a shoulder-mount five-slot P2 HD camcorder capable of producing full-raster 1920 x 1080 HD images, the highest HD recording quality in a one-piece camcorder. The HPX3000 uses three 2.2-million-pixel CCDs to produce stunningly high resolution 4:2:2, 10-bit 1920 x 1080 HD images, near D-5 HD quality, for high-end productions including episodic television, filmmaking and commercial production. AVC-Intra recording capability comes standard. The AJ-HPX3000 will be available in September at a SLP of $48,000, including the 5-year limited warranty program."

So thats all she wrote eh?

I have a feeling there will be a lot of XH-a1 and g-1's ordered this week. I think a lot of folks were holding off to see if panny would releasea crossover AVCHD cam. Maybe later this week?

The 5 year warranties on the p2 cams is appealing though.

The Sony XDCAM EX may give Panasonic a real problem when it comes out.

Depending on price, isn't this essentially the "dream camera" the majority of users here have been asking for? Native 1080p, 100mbps intra at 422, non-tape based. Sounds pretty nice to me, I'm excited to use it on a job some time. As for the 2/3" chip, there are reasons why Sony, Panny, etc.. stuck to 2/3 instead of going for the s35 sensor - broader appeal, easier upgrade path for owners of ENG style cams. With digiprimes, you can get the look of s35 at 2.8/4 split, or you can use eng style lenses and blast away with 2/3" d.o.f.

Obviously, the buzz is all crimson in color, but lets not forget that there are other tools in the pipe as well, potentially great tools (that have ergonomics integrated!!!!!)
