Studio 8 Hangs
 

Hello All,

Simple but vexing question. I am attempting to render a 13 min. piece involving stills, videos, and titles on Studio 8 (Win XP) with the most recent patch. I am trying to burn to DVD but it hangs every time in rendering. I have made several DVs with this software but recently upgraded to a Mad Dog DVD 8x Burner so now I need to produce DVDs. I have tried all Pinnacle suggested, including defrags etc. Any help would be much appreciated.

PS~I hope to upgrade to either Adobe or Vegas after this project.

Do you still have your old burner and can you downgrade to
that for the moment? It sounds like the product is not supporting
your burner.

What operating system are you running?

There was a bug in studio which was pretty much the same as you are describing. If you have upgraded to the latest then the only other thing that you could do as Rob has mentioned is put in another DVD-burner.

Thanks guys for the advice but unfortunately I do not have a burner to downgrade to. I just installed a Mad Dog Dominator and I tried there technical support line and they were no help. I read somewhere else though after installing new hardware you need to uninstall and reinstall Studio, any comments?

Why don't you try burning a simpler project to help you identify the problem? I'm a heavy user of Studio8 (now 9). It was picky
about titles and transitions. So, I just rendered the complicated stuff to uncompressed or DV files, then inserted them into my DVD project. There is a workflow to get around Studio8 hangs,
but generally, create the menu after you've finished your editing.

I tried the re-installing, and that did not work. Gints, are you suggesting that I drop it to tape then bring it back on as a new capture. Does that comprimise the quality, (I am new to this if you cannot tell)? Thanks for the advice, I will definately transfer it to tape, just to have a back-up copy.

I'm just suggest that you make a separate project out of your complicated sequences of titles and transitions, render them out
to a disk file as an uncompressed AVI or DV-format AVI. Then,
add them back to your project. If you use uncompressed, it takes a while, but doesn't compromise quality. If you use DV-format AVI, it's 5:1 compression, equivalent to that of your camcorder.
