Video and Audio on the same VCD?

Here's my challenge. (and I've seen this done before) I need to put an audio track that any CD player can play AND a video on the same VCD. I would prefer it if the video track could be viewed by any failry new DVD player, but if not, that's cool. A good machine with a CD-Rom player might suffice.
How can this be done? Do I need to have a CD authoring house do it?
My boss would really like to put some software on the disc as well, but that's getting crazy.
Thanks you guys,
-Kyle

To the best of my knowledge this is not possible with consumer
software. I also highly doubt this is standards compliant.

What you might try with a good recording application is to make
a multi-session audio CD. And then try to add a VCD session to
that. If this would work then I'd say the best program to try this
with is the full version of Nero.

you could probably do all of that on a cd, if your target was to play back all the content only in a pc dvd or cd player, and be able to install the included software to the pc.

you might be able to stage the audio track so that it's the first thing that the standalone cd boombox player sees(??)... but none of that sounds like it's vcd-legal per se.

you could also create a full-on dvd that has active links to url's on the internet(for the software download to the pc it's playing back on), and i think that it should also play back on desktop dvd players(???), but i've never tried it before.

interesting scenario!
