Does the PV-DV953 have real 16:9?

I shot a short with my PV-DV953 in 16:9 mode, and intend to intercut with some footage I captured with a DVX100. The color difference I can compensate for, but I just noticed that my PV-DV953's 16:9 is off-ratio; something between 4:3 and 16:9. Did anybody else notice this?

yea the mx500/953 is a full res 16:9 ccd so when in that mode, it will utilise teh full ccd block... up and across...

the dvx doesnt do this.. it makes up for it by stretching vertically only..

Thanks, Peter. I was surprised by how much better the DVX wasn't... the DV953 sure is great value for money.
