First of all, I assume you're talking about settop dvd players. There are so many out there right now that play anything you can throw at them (-,+,rw,divx, xvid,mpg, jpg, etc) that I would definitely return the new players and get a totally compatible unit. I've got a Philips that will play everything without a hitch. It's especially nice having one that plays divx and xvid.
I didn't realize they are still making some that are not compatible with at least + and - r's. There's a slightly higher percentage of compatiblility with regular (-) R than with +R. Which format are they choking on?
