Thank God for junk mail!

And before you ask, no, I did not have crack for breakfast. 99.9% of the garbage I get in the mail can go straight to the trash. Today was different. As I started thumbing through the Disk Maker's catalogue that just arrived, I see an ad for their Ultra HydroShield inkjet CD-R- a bargain at only .79 cents each. What does that have to do with DVDs? They have 16x water resistant/smudge proof DVD-Rs coming out soon!

That web addy is www.diskmakers.com

I did visit the site.

While it sounds good, I don't think it's going to make non-pigment-based ink water or run proof. The ink is still going to be water soluable.

Once it drys, my Epson R800 with pigment ink printed CD or DVD is water and smudge resistent and I can use low-cost inkjet printable discs.

Just passing on what it says. My disks out of the Epson smudge easy when introduced to moisture. I have no idea what their HydroShield does, but they claim it works, and offer a free sample kit. Just call 1-800-237-6666. I think it's worth a try for free, don't you?

The T-Y name may also be called WaterShield. I found an additional link with info here

I wrote a note to one of the Anandtech writers that they might want to do an article.
