compression jitters, can they be avoided?

I'm working on a project in dvdsp 4 on g5 dua 2.7 4gb ram. my main menu is a motion file that has a gradient wiith llow opacity clouds to add some movement. the clouds are content built into motion (in the content library). when I author the dvd it looks very jittery (just aweful). I used compressor to convert to mpg 2 using 6.5 ave bit rate and 7.7 max. the QT file from compressor looks fiine. when I build the dvd and play in the computer dvd player it looks fine but when I author it and play on a normal dvd player it looks god aweful (tried 2 players). any suggestions?

thanks
andy

That sounds like it might be a framerate issue, but it is hard to say. What framerate is your motion file, your fcp timeline and your dvd?
Other than that make sure you use 2-pass VBR encoding(the best quality DVD preset).
