Sundance Bound

I am pleased and proud to announce that a project I worked on over the course of several years is slated to premiere at Sundance.

CRIME AFTER CRIME - The story of a woman wrongfully imprisoned for life, directed by Yoav Potash

YouTube - CRIME AFTER CRIME trailer (Official Sundance Selection)

I shot footage in the prison, at the attorney's offices and homes, and some interviews with witnesses. It's a compelling story with some amazing twists. I wish Yoav the best of luck on this. He stuck with it for five hard years.

Congrats Richard! Are you going to be going to Sundance? I saw another compelling doc on a wrongly imprisoned person in Mexico. It was shot by two Berkeley students and man, talk about a joke of a justice system.

Crime After Crime looks interesting. Any plans for going out to broadcast or DVD?

I'm currently working on a feature documentary that I hope will eventually be in some festivals.

Cool. What did you shoot with? What format did you pick? Care to share why?

Richard Alvarez December 17th, 2010 01:01 AM

Sorry for the late response guys... been busy with another project.

The director started shooting the project back in... 2004/5. Shooting 24p with the Panny DVX100. When I came along, I had just purchased my XL2 - so all the stuff I shot was with the XL2 at 24p. Some of the very last footage was shot in HD - I forget which camera. The entire film took more than five years as a project.

Here's an interview clip with the director.

I don't know if I'll make it to Sundance. I hope to. I wasn't principal DP - but a lot of my footage is in the film. A lot of the prison footage, and interviews with the Attorneys.
