The Hitchcock "Vertigo" dolly move

Here was an attempt to do the stylized dolly move shot of zooming in time with a dolly move (the second of the two shots).

This also showed a issue with the XHA1 not being able to faithfully accomplish this type of shot. Due to the camera using a single servo motor for both the focus and zoom it tends to update the focus in short burst while trying to match the zoom with the dolly move.

To help achieve this effect I am thinking on trying it again using the Letus Extreme and using the focus on the taking lense while using the zoom on the camera within the usable ground glass area of the unit.

FWIW though it does work, just has the slight focus quirk going on.

Both shots were done on my homemade skater dolly, although the first shot is messed with in post to give it a out of sync film and almost negates the benefits of a dolly...but I think it still looks neat.
