Two wheel dolly
 

I've invented a two wheel dolly. You can see some footage here. It's a 1 MB wmv, a clip from a short video I made.
The shot was made by me sitting on the dolly, riding alongside the subject at great speed, holding the camera in one hand, rather low, shooting from the hip - so to speak.
And it is of course a bicycle.

Feel free to use the idea - but do wear a crash helmet.

Looked like it worked pretty good. I'm probably the clumsiest person at pretty much everything, I can ride a bike good, but if I was trying to concenrate on shooting and riding a bike at the same time, no way, I would crash into something and go flying head first over the handle bars (i've done it before, ouch...should of seen the front rim on the bike, it was bent at a 90 degree angle, heh, oh yeah, I broke a arm and a finger).

Another idea would to maybe just attach the camera to the bike, and put a WA adapter on it, and make sure your on a smooth surface.

Well I did use a WA adapter. The path was too narrow for the normal lens. And for smooth surface - listen to the sound track. It's been through Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction twice, and you can still hear the gravel complaining.
But on asphalt or something similar, I guess you could fix the camera to your bike. You could also have a (not too heavy) camera operator sitting on the baggage carrier.

Fore more reliable results try the following


1 bolt on another stem to the handle bars

2 pass a monopod through the other hole so it is in vertical position

3 mount camera to monopod either for front or for side views

even just walking the bike is great for getting walking interview shots

Unfortunately, I need both hands on the handle bars...

Heh, I used to be able to ride a bike without any hands on the handlebars for like the whole ride (as long as it's on a smooth surface, such as a road), but I haven't rode in a while, and i'd probably crash.

Why not get a Tandom bike. 1 film. 1 ride. simple.
