Deeper thoughts on the next DVC

Iffff we were to do a 72 hour DV Challenge, how many people would sign up?
I'd like to do one, but if there aren't enough people who are seriously interested, we could make it a "mini-challenge", maybe just 6 of us.

On the other hand, if everyone is itching to go on the full challenge, I could put one together to start at the end of July.

Thoughts?

Fredrik-Larsson June 17th, 2007 02:44 PM

I can't do it the 27-28-29th of july. Otherwise I am ready to participate. :)

Chris Barcellos June 17th, 2007 02:57 PM

I'm 43 hours into a 48 hour film festival. Sure wish we had another 24... But I would be up for it....

Kris Holodak June 17th, 2007 03:43 PM

I'll be up for it however it plays out.

Lorinda Norton June 17th, 2007 07:43 PM

I'd sure try a 72 hour challenge, partly because it sounds like lots of fun and partly because I would have to pass on a full challenge at the end of July.

Jeff Hendricks June 18th, 2007 09:18 AM

i'd do it...................

Up the ante

Dylan,
If you are seriously considering making the next one a 72-hour bit, why not also consider upping the ante. Turn the next one into a "72-hour DVC Extreme".

Keep all the regular pertinent rules for the DVC.

Implement a 72-hour limit.

Impose the inclusion of a specific item or prop (specified at start time)

Impose the inclusion of a specific line of dialogue (specified at start time)

Allow for flexibility in the content run-time -(between 2 and 5 minutes)

-------------------

I wouldn't advise this structure for the standard DVCs, but one annual 'Extreme' version sounds like a lot of fun. I'd be in.

I'd be in as well :)

You guys are twisting my arm...

Of course, it all depends on when the contest is scheduled.

James Huenergardt June 19th, 2007 11:23 PM

It all depends on the weekend.

With my job, I'm on call every other week starting 8am Tues - 8am Tues.

If it lines up with a weekend I have off, that works for me. I'd sign up.

Jim

Dick Mays June 20th, 2007 11:42 AM

I can do it the weekend of the July 14th
I can't do it the weekend of July 21st.
I can do it the weekend of July 28th.
I can't do it the weekend of August 4th.

(This is what happens when your life falls apart and all that, and every other weekend becomes visitation...)

Daniel Kohl June 20th, 2007 04:05 PM

I would be in ... but I'm not afraid of the wall of shame - I've been there.

I would love to try and do another DVC.

Jeff Sayre June 21st, 2007 07:48 AM

Dylan-

I'm ready to get back into the DVC and a 72-hour challenge seems right. After all, the time limit will keep me away from doing VFX work, so I might actually get some sleep during those three days.

If you're planning for the end of July, I should be able to do it. If it is in August, I'll be out of town.

----

Ken-

I see you are from South Bend! Welcome to the DVi.

Ken Wozniak June 22nd, 2007 08:55 AM

Thanks for the welcome, Jeff. I'm afraid I'm a South Bend lifer.

Go, IRISH!
