DVC 14 - The Winner Is...
What a round! DVC 14 will go into the books as one of the most competitive and interesting of the bunch. We had it all: intrigue, lessons in plumbing and sperm, time travel, paws and gills --you name it, it was there.
You guys are all winners in my book. Thanks to your hard work and creativity we’ve had a fascinating week of movies and conversation. But, only one film maker gets to leave here with the top prize, which just happens to be the biggest yet – a $300 shopping spree at DVeStore, thanks to Guy Cochran. We sure appreciate you, Guy. :) Big thanks, as always, to Chris Hurd for allowing us to have our fun right here on DV Info, and to our leader, Dylan Couper for keeping things running smoothly. He’s the reason you all had the opportunity to TRAVEL this round, and it looks like you had a great time. Talk about a nail-biter! This was really a close one. Not surprising with so many great films. Many of you mentioned how difficult the voting was, but you made your choices and we will start with Honorable Mention of those who received three or more votes: Honorable Mention: James Huenergardt –“Passport” Alex Chamberlain –“The Game” Dennis Kahye – “One Extra Step” Aaron Fay –“DoubleTime” …And now, here are your top picks for DVC 14: Second Runner Up: Chris Barcellos – “Light Rider” First Runner Up: Eric Gan – “The Race” The WINNER of DVC 14: Joseph Tran – “Fish Like to Travel in Pairs” Congratulations, Joseph! Two-time champion, and with another wonderful entry!! You and your crew can go out and celebrate. I’ll send your email address to Guy Cochran for your prize. Congratulations, as well, to Eric, Chris, and our other four vote-getters. And a round to each one of us who got off our you-know-whats and made a film! Whew…it’s a wrap, gentlemen! Keep your gear handy because DVC 15 may be right around the corner! |
Let me be the first to congratulate Joseph on his win! Nice film.
Keep up the good work. |
Indeed, great job yet again, Joseph!
|
I had a hard time choosing from all of these, talk about stiff competition. Well done, Joseph!
|
As soon as I viewed the project, I had a very strong feeling that Joseph's piece would win.
To Joseph: Your entries have consistently set the bar for me as an aspiring short filmmaker. This one was no different. Kudos! |
Congrats
Well deserved... And this was a hard decision and vote for all of us....
|
Congrats Joseph!
|
Now that was fun :)
The hardest part was definately judging the videos. Good work all. Aaron |
Congrats on winning one of the best rounds I've seen recently.
|
Yay, congrats to winners! :)
Looking forward to DVC15. |
That was a great round. Congrats to everybody and look forward to what you guys come up with for the next one!

Whew! Been helping a friend out in preparation for the rainstorm here in California (heavy rain + burn areas = not a good day), and am barely getting back to my desk.
To be honest, the first words that came out of my mouth to Andy, one of our crew members, was, "Holy s#!@ -- we won?!" I said that because I saw some truly amazing projects for DVC14; and to me (to many of us), this was going to be a tight race! My geniune and heartfelt thanks for your votes, comments, and experience here on the boards. I'm sure many of you share my thought that any of these films could've taken this round! Kudos to EVERYONE for such an amazingly quality-filled round. Kudos! |
Joseph, well worth the prize, your entry was very well done in all aspects :) Congrats!
