Well, I'm in...

I have been very hesitant since the announcement of the theme.

It's just... nevermind, I'm in.

I got a brand new XL2, that's why I'm in.

I don't feel inspired right now, maybe if I hit the storyboard... run a lap... have some cereal...

To begin........

I know what you mean. In a way, this one is the hardest of the 3 I have been involved in. Spirit is actually rather limited in it's approach. If you are trying to stay away from cliche, it ain't an easy topic.

I have my script finished. I bought a Santa hat last night as the first prop. About $1.69 so far.

Next I need a beard, a blender, a stuffed squirell, 16 pairs of red spike heels in size 2, a surplus flame thrower and one of those flexible straws...

Hee hee.

Sean, I am looking forward to see your contribution. Can I advise you to pick up an insurance before you go out and shoot it?

I'm not so much worried about the flame thrower but trying to convince the local army post that I really, really need it, that's going to take some doing. I just hope the ASPCA isn't listening in. They have spies everywhere. I think forcing reindeer to wear heels might be against the law but I am not sure.

Have to go shopping for a rubber chicken and a rubber president Nixon mask now.

I also have to shoot the "Making of..." also. Maybe I can edit that as my arm heals.

I can't do this... I can't even get past the definition...

It's a spirit...................... a spirit!

I am going to eat myself alive just getting to the core meaning of spirit.

What is the historical meaning of why distilled alcohol is called "spirits" anyway???? I'm going to look that up right now.

I got a really good idea, the problem is... well... capturing spirit.

I know what you guys mean, this crap is hard! Trying not to do anything cliché, but the only idea that's come to mind so far is incredibly (albeit implicitly) violent, and in poor taste. I don't imagine murder--even its mere suggestion--is something that would be terribly welcome in a competition like this, 'specially this time of year.

Back to the drawing board, I guess. Hope things work out, Christopher, I share your pain. Good luck!

Still plenty of time!

Christopher-Robert,

Remember, you have 8 more days and that gives you plenty of time to just think. Sometimes your idea will only come toward the end. Just have your gear ready and people if you have them.

Hang in there and try some abstract thinking. Watch TV, drive around, talk on the phone and all with the theme in your mind.

Keep your, ah, spirits up!

Mike

I got it.

It involves flooding a bar.

I just got rights to an amazing song from a indie band in Philadelphia (thank you Mary).

A friend of mine is really good friends with an owner of a local bar, he's going to secure some shooting time for me there. I will be able to flood flood it limitly.

All major ideas brainstormed. I am going to make a complete shot list tomarrow... no script as there will be no dialogue.

Don't get discouraged. It took me nearly 3 days to gel my idea. I just finished editing about 80% of it this afternoon. Taking a break now.

Scratch the flame throwers. A tank would be really cool but even black market 50s era soviet stuff is still pretty pricey. Go figure.

Finished shooting about 2am. Wathced "Audition" and went to bed. Interesting movie.

Who says murder isn't a good theme? Hey, it's open to interpretation. That leaves good taste on the front porch. All 8 reindeer buy the farm in mine.

Need rest- and Bailey's.

Okay so I am going to scratch flooding a bar, too much time to set everything up. Instead I found a house that will let me flood it :). I got one main actor, 20 extras (including 2 kids). Need to put together a complete list of my shots still. This is going to be very effin cool.

Okay no kids. Still lots of extras. Lots of tricks. Will this even work? I think it just might.
