AND THE WINNER OF DVC6 is....

Here's the post you've all (or at least the top 13 of you) have been waiting for!

Ok, out of all the challenges we've run, there has never been one THIS CLOSE. We've had a few squeekers, but usually one film stands way out. Not this time, and this is one of the reasons I'm so glad I don't judge these by myself!

But first a huge thanks to Guy Cochran at www.dvestore.com as well as http://lowel.com/ for putting up a killer prize package!

This time the lucky winner gets a choice of either:
DVeStore Prize Pack #1
-Tiffen SteadyStick http://dvcreators.net/steady-stick
-32” 5n1 Reflector
-DVcreator’s DV Enlightenment DVD
-Shooting Awesome Video CD-ROM!
-And a Lowel Riffa 44 kit! http://www.dvcreators.net/products/rifa.html

OR:

DVeStore Prize Pack #2
A RODE NT3 Hypercardiod microphone!
http://dvestore.com/products/rodent3.html
And a Lowel Riffa 44 kit! http://www.dvcreators.net/products/rifa.html

Next a big thanks to Pete Bauer who has jumped on to maintain the DVC website and now gets to update it. ;) Thanks Pete! Yes, your t-shirt is the first one getting mailed out!

And finally of course big thanks to Chris Hurd for giving us a home here on DVinfo.net, the best darn video forum out there!

Just to drag this out some more, let me count down to the winner. Using the scoring system, I gave 3 points to every 1st place, 2 to 2nd, and 1 to 3rd. While almost all of the top films scored several votes, the big cut off was at 4th place... so here we go!

4th Place with 12 points
Dennis Kahye "Allegory Of The Cave"

3rd Place with 24 points
James Huenergardt "Fresh Baked"

2nd Place with 27 points
Bill Gardner "Sun Burns"

1st PLACE, with 28 points
Jay Silver "The Bright Side"

Congrats guys, amazing work! Shoot me an email regarding your prize packages!

Chris Barcellos September 8th, 2006 05:09 PM

Congrats to Jay Silver and Bright Side

Jay:

Great job. Congratulations !!

William Gardner September 8th, 2006 05:19 PM

!

Congrats Jay and to the other top finalists! FYI, the other 3 finalists were my top 3 picks! And great job to everybody else too! See y'all in DVC7.

Bill
PS: I knew I shouldn't have voted for that Jay Silver guy... :)

James Huenergardt September 8th, 2006 05:26 PM

Congrats Jay! Great job!

Actually, congrats to all who even entered a film, and especially the finalists. It's a lot of work. Most folks don't know what goes into a short 3 minute film. I was quite impressed with the number of films submitted. Maybe next time there will be more.

Looking forward to DVC7.

Until then...

Colton Davie September 8th, 2006 05:32 PM

Congratulations Jay and the rest! There were some very well done entries and these really stood out. I look forward eagerly to DVC7!

Lorinda Norton September 8th, 2006 05:36 PM

Congratulations, Jay!!!! Very, very happy for you--you made a great movie. :)

And three cheers to the rest of you! This was a fun challenge--it seems they get more fun as we go along.

Thanks, Dylan, for hustling with the results once you were finally able. You're the best! :)

Robert Martens September 8th, 2006 05:40 PM

All right, Jay, congratulations! I'm not surprised to see the guy who did The Gauntlet win a contest like this (had no idea that was you, I've loved that movie longer than I've been a member here). You've got some storytelling skill, let me tell you, great work.

I sympathize with Dylan, this was a nigh impossible selection of films to judge, and I had a tough time picking my favorites. Everybody did a great job, and I can't wait to see what happens next time.

Dick Mays September 8th, 2006 06:20 PM

I see my nasty posting announcing DVC6 winners has been deleted and I'm sorry I gave into to my lowbrow country humor during a weak moment, but fortunately, a strong contender won the DVC6 challenge and I salute the effort.

I truly felt Bright side and SunBurn were the top two entries in this challenge and was pleased to see the community supported these two fine efforts.

Congratulations to the winners!

Next time, I'm doing vampires in outer space, and kicking both your butts!

Dick

Jay Silver September 8th, 2006 06:24 PM

Wow!

Thanks for the votes, folks. There was some stiff competition in there - I was happy enough with all the great responses and to have made the finals on my first try, but this is just amazing. Now I'm really glad I kept going and finished it!

Thanks also to Dylan for running this awesome contest as well as the prize sponsors for the icing on the cake. Can't wait for DVC7!

Congratulations Jay! You did it. My #1 pick. A very strong contender, it was a perfect match for the theme.

See you at DVC#7, Arrrrrrr.....

Hugh DiMauro September 9th, 2006 04:50 AM

Congratulations to all of the placers! I can't wait until the next one!

Mike Teutsch September 9th, 2006 07:45 AM

Congratulations Jay, see you next time I hope!

Mike

Jeff Tyler September 9th, 2006 08:32 AM

Good job Jay and to everyone else who put a film in!

Dennis Khaye September 9th, 2006 09:46 AM

Congratulations Jay, well done. And congrats to everyone to turned one in. This contest boasts it makes you get off your tush and create something new. To everyone who did, I'll applaud that.

Sean McHenry September 9th, 2006 04:45 PM

A well deserver round (virtually) on me to everyone that actually sent one in. A second round to those that made it to the last 13 (an ominous number to be sure - as were those of us counted in that group, I think). A final round and pat on the back to Jay. Yeah Jay.

You have any sort of idea what kind of pressure this is going to put you under for the next one? Good job. Keep at it.

Sean
