Grazie

Graham Bernard November 13th, 2008 02:06 AM

But "New Posts" button still is not working.

Grazie

Trond Saetre November 13th, 2008 02:14 AM

The "New Posts" works fine for me. Never had any problems with that one.

But still, I havenīt received any notifications in weeks.

And again, Trond, got yours like a "Bullet"!

You sent : 08:14 AM

In my email notifs: 08:14 AM

The "New Posts" button has been working up till about 2 days back now? Yeah, about then?

Grazie

Ian Stark November 13th, 2008 02:41 AM

Grazie, good morning. Try the Controls button. That should give you a list of all the threads you are subscribed to that have responses. I prefer that to the New Posts button, personally.

I just checked again, and the "New Posts" button works fine here.

Ian . . .

As I mentioned, I am getting my subscription responses met.

"Personally" the "New Posts" button allows me to be more eclectic in my trawling of this great site; democratic in my interest of all things DV and spotlights areas that I hadn't even considered before.

This way I will have absolutely NO IDEA in what I am reading, and for this, and this reason alone, it does stretch me and forces me to read and research further.

Grazie

Sorry, Grazie, I read it that your notifications were up and down.

"In the past 24 hours I just started having this trouble"; "Ah - HUH! - Back working again".

The New Posts button is full of interesting surprises, certainly. Unfortunately (actually, make that fortunately) I am working flat out at the moment and don't have the luxury of being able to graze (no pun intended!).

Good for you! I've never ever done "flat out". I'm FAR too lazy!

He he he . . . I have nine hours on a plane tomorrow and my plan is to do NOTHING except enjoy Virgin's hospitality - everything work related will be in hold luggage!

Graham Bernard November 13th, 2008 05:26 AM

. . and, as I said:Today 08:06 AM: the "New Posts" button is not repsonding.

Grazie

Whether or not you get notifications depends on how your ISP is filtering SPAM. Earthlink has very aggressive filters and one of the criteria for passing the note on to the user is the return email address must be valid and it must NOT be on one of the blacklisted domains known to be spam servers. This is not something that any user can change so those of us using earthlink will never be able to get notifications if we have the spam filter turned on. In my case it filters out about 50 messages a day so turning it off isn't an option. The down side of having the same email address for more than 10 years.

For other ISPs you may or may not get messages. Depends on how the filtering is done. I can only speak for the ISPs that I'm familiar with.

Chris, another forum (named Tweaktown) uses what appears to be the same program for their site that is used here, and their email notification is on the fritz also. I don't know if this is related to us or not, but I thought I would throw that out in case there could be a connection.

Adam Letch November 17th, 2008 02:36 AM

maybe the way

it tags the response has changed and this solicits spam filters to engage, interesting that people from all over the world, with different ISPs (myself inclusive) have had no responses for at least a month now, and yet recieved them previously without a problem??

Sorry for possibly stating what seems to be obvious, the email response I find very handy as sometimes you occassionally forray into another thread that's not usual and post, and you forget you posted and therefore never reply to a counter post as you have no idea another question has been fired your way.

I'm sure your onto it anyway Chris, and it's the only glitch with this otherwise perfect forum which you've hosted so well for some time now.

thanks for you hard work

regards

Adam
