How do I get new posts, the second time?

About once a day I click on "view new posts" and scan through them for interesting topics. Sometimes I don't have time to scan through every page and end up quitting my browser. If I come back later in the day and try to view new posts again, I only get the new stuff from the last time I visited. All those posts that I didn't get a chance to scan earlier are gone. This makes sense of course, since only the new-since-I-was-last-here posts should be retrieved.

But what if I want to find those posts that I didn't get to scan through earlier in the day?

How do I create a search that will at least include those "lost" posts (like all new posts in the last 24 hours). I tried a nonspecific search for anything that posted in the past day, but it comes up empty.

To my knowledge you can't. As soon as you log-in (with or without cookie) the system checks for the date/time of your last visit and bases its judgment of "new" on that.

After you preview all the new post, or all the new post you want to preview, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the "Mark All Posts As Read". It is centered at the bottom of the page in pretty small typeface.

Chris (et al.) has done a great job of setting up this Community of forums. Well organized and vBulletin is a great forum tool.

Save the URL from the first search. When you want to go back to the first search use the saved URL and it will show the old post and the new posts.

I'll try saving the URL.

Thanks!

URL saving works since you include a searchid which the system
maintains for a while. You can also ofcourse leave your browser
open with the results in them (as I frequently do). A tabbed
browser like Opera is great for that as well.

Keep in mind that go to last unread post within a thread stops
working since you are viewing them since your last visit. I usually
scroll around the thread to either a point I remember or by
watching the date I know is the first one I could not have read.
