Reviews copied to specific Forums?

Knowing, as we all do, that many members and lurkers seem reluctant to move out of their comfort zones in specific forum(s), is there a case to be made for Forum specific reviews to be copied to the specific Forums they are aimed at?

It seems my camera support reviews are being missed by many, as they simply will not visit the Articles section, for whatever reason.

I doubt I'm the only one to have noticed this tendency.

This is not a request, but a talking point, would it be an aid to all if some (not all, can't see that ALL really would work in this context) reviews are copied into the relevant Forums as a header or somesuch, so that Forum visitors simply cannot miss them unless they're blind.

What does the team think? (I reserve judgement on whether the team think at all, so just talk amongst yourselves on that one).

I am aware it will not prevent many "Forum Huggers" from missing relevant information on something outside their security blanket (did I say Sony? Nah, never said a word), but it's seems like an idea for the less adventurous amongst our visitors.

In my case (with my reviews), my vote is a yea, it's gotta be worth it, but this is a pretty esoteric subject so maybe it's different. What do you think?

The floor is open friends, what do you think?

It's a single mouse-click... for example: Review: Libec RS 250M Video Support System at DVInfo.net

The advantage of the Articles system is a better layout (akin to traditional print), which greatly
aids readability with the flow of images and text. I guess what we need to do is to make the
feedback threads more prominent within the forum, so perhaps the answer is to "stick" the
current article links to the top of a particular forum and maintain them as the official feedback
threads for each.

Chris's Manfrotto review is coming up quickly, by the way (i already have it), so we'll use it
for this experiment.

For me, I always come straight in to the forums and not starting at the front page of the site. You wouldn't believe my amazement the other month when I discovered that there was non-forum stuff on this web site!

So pasting, or even a link / mention in the related forum area would be a Good Thing™ for me.

Well, we'll work on that Good Thing™ -- meanwhile here's an example of making
article links into combination "sticky" posts and feedback threads, with Pete Bauer's
Adobe CS5.5 article, just published today (Chris Soucy's Manfrotto review coming up next):

Just what the Doctor ordered. I'll go with Good Thing™ as well.

Thanks, Chris.

Until I saw this thread, I didn't even know there was an Articles section. I'll be checking it from now on.

I hear ya. It's just late, like everything else in my life. It's allowed food and drink and daily calls back to Chris and will be released into freedom very soon!

On that note, any chance of the Database getting time off for good behaviour and let out of solitary?

Must have pretty well run out of wall space to scratch day numbers by now.

Yeah, yeah, I hear you, what a PITA, hey, we compiled it!

Until I noticed this thread, I had never paid any attention to the "Articles" feature on the header. But now that I've seen it, I will probably go there and check it on my way to a specific forum. What might be good, is to place notices at the top of forums, if there's a new article that would be of special interest to those who participate in it. Perhaps the writer of an article could pick which forums would be appropriate to notify and mark it with tags like you do with photos and videos on a hosting website. It could be set to automatically place the notices on the tagged forums.

I'd just be happy with a link posted in the "Stickies" section that was constantly viewable and would take you straight to the article in question.

The down side is that so many people here will not move out of their comfort zone, and continue to ask the stupidest questions on their main Forum of interest, which has no relevence to that Forum.

Guess we'll never fix that one, but the "Stickies" would be a good start, have to have a good heading though.

BTW, I'm hoping to have yet another spectacular review for new Vinten kit in the next couple of months or so (Peter Harman and Vinten willing), should be a doozy if it comes off.

My last, the Vb5, was a bit of a damp squid here owing to it's extremely high load capacity, way beyond what 99% of DVinfoers would ever need.

The next one is a different kettle of fish altogether.

Stay tuned for the next exciting episode..............
