What is a Slurp Spider?

I keep seeing Yahoo Slurp Spider in the Current Active Users/Who's Online directory. I know what a spider is but what does slurp mean?

So I went to Google the word 'slurp' to provide a smartass dictionary definition reply, but when I did, the first result was a Yahoo page.

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/slurp/

I imagine they gave it the name slurp to give the impression that it takes in a lot of information. Word association, y'know.

When a search engine/bot is listed in the Current Active Users directory such as the Slurp Spider, is that actually people that are using them to search with or is it a machine trying to build or extract data links?
