"Nature's gift" by Trond Saetre

The idea was to present the nature as a gift for the city's population.
My hometown is called "the city between the 7 mountains", and a lot of people use these for recreation.
And of course, a little rock found it's way into my video. :)

Thanks, Trond, your video has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere, the right thing to watch in a busy workday, like it is now for me, to forget in the nature.
Couldn't help to notice that all the hill tops are full with radio communications equipment - also a message by itself.

p.s. Noticed your shadow in one shot too. :)

Trond Saetre January 13th, 2010 05:25 AM

Thank you for the feedback, Andris.
Didn't notice the shadow until I was editing, and I thought it was a pretty cool effect to include. :)

Andris Krastins January 13th, 2010 05:27 AM

Agreed, it looks quite cool. :)

Tronde,

This has your usual terrific images. At 21 that is a terrific composition. The pan at 1:00 is perfect, however I wanted a longer pan and a bit more scenery. I do not believe the protocol that all clips need to be short!!! It was just to good to cut short!!!

go back to 1:30 is that your shadow moving in there??

I enjoyed the short and I thought the theme was a great idea!! Your usual good stuff!!!

Dick Mays January 13th, 2010 09:31 AM

Tronde,

Very beautiful imagery. You have a very steady hand on your pans. I love the exposure and lighting contrasts. The music makes the mood and is really good. Great location, bet it is a lot fo fun getting out in your backyard.

But I'm not sure about the biggest rock subcompetition. I mean your rock is HUGE. But is it a rock? It LOOKS like a rock, but doesn't a rock have to be separate from the mountain? Lorinda is the only one with the diplomatic skills to tackle this tough question.

Norway is so beautiful. What is your immigration policy?

Trond Saetre January 13th, 2010 10:14 AM

Dale,
After watching my video again, I agree that the pan you mention at 1:00 should be longer.
Thanks for pointing that out. Original footage was more than 30secons for that pan.

Yes, it is my shadow you spotted.

Dick,
Maybe I'll find a tiny little rock to put on top of the mountain in my next video. :)
Just couldn't resist calling it a rock.
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate.
Oh, and Norway welcomes everyone. Come on over.

Bill Thesken January 13th, 2010 01:05 PM

Trond, nothing better than getting out of town and into nature. You 'almost' looked at the camera as you were walking by on the trail, very good restraint and composure. That rock almost looks like a volcanic mound. Thank you for sharing your backyard.

Lorinda Norton January 13th, 2010 01:36 PM

Hey! Who said anything about a *biggest* rock in the subcompetition??? I'll have to go back and look. And no, I am not going to offer a comment on whether that qualifies as a rock or a mountaintop or a volcanic mound. There's too much snow to make a determination. ;)

Trond, thanks so much for the peaceful glimpse outside of the city. When I'm walking in snow there's nothing nicer than if the sun comes out to warm things up and make the snow sparkle. That's always a welcome gift. Your images were all quite pretty, with a wonderful choice of music to complement them.

Trond Saetre January 13th, 2010 02:50 PM

Bill,
Thank you for the comments. Very true, I get out of town to spend time in the nature as often as I can. Been up on that mountain countless of times.

Lorinda,
The snow was most welcome. White xmas for a change. (this was filmed dec 23)
Thanks for the comments.
Oh, and I couldn't resist using the *biggest rock* I could find, haha.

Tronde:

I was a bit disappointed that our gangster Marty Henderson did not show up in your film. We sent him over to hook up with you :)...

Very nice peaceful feeling to your film, providing us with another insight into your beautiful country. Thank you for sharing once again !

Trond Saetre January 14th, 2010 12:19 AM

Ah, yes where did I put Marty the gangster..? hmm
He didn't like hiking in the snow, so he went downtown to find his own little rock. ;)
Maybe I'll talk him into showing up in a future uwol film.

This is all very suspicious Trond. Where did you put Marty the gangster you say?
Maybe he got buried in somtin?

Chris Barcellos January 14th, 2010 10:07 PM

Marty never liked the cold that much, he's probably in Aruba right now.

Chris Swanberg January 14th, 2010 11:52 PM

Tronde...

As usual a pleasure to enjoy the beautiful scenic wonders that abound where you live. You do an excellent job of conveying that sense of place, and it is not just because of the beauty that surrounds you. Your eye and pacing are very good.

One comment... in the for whatever it might be worth category...I don't know why, cut edits do not generally seem out of place to me, but the serenity of the scenes were, a time or two, made a little abrupt by that kind of cut placed between them to my eye. I've never felt that before, and so maybe it is just me in this case or possibly the mix of scenes.

In any event it did not detract from the beauty of your film. I like the way you worked yourself into it as well. Another fine film from our friends in Norway!

Chris
